A marathon is a 48–72 hour social dancing event. There are typically no workshops and no choreographed performances — just DJs, a careful music selection, and a room full of dancers. Most marathons start Friday evening, peak with a Saturday night all-nighter, and close Sunday afternoon. Many include breakfast, lunch, and (sometimes) accommodation in the ticket price.
Marathons are intense — bring sturdy shoes and a real plan for rest. Look at the DJ lineup more than anything else; a marathon lives or dies by its music. Check whether the registration is balanced (the better ones split tickets 50/50 leader/follower), and whether the venue is close to hotels.
Going alone? That's the norm at marathons. Pin yourself and connect with other dancers before you arrive.
